From a nonfiction perspective, I’ve been reading a fantastic book that my friend, former CIA analyst and novelist David McCloskey turned me on to. It’s called The Main Enemy and it tells the story of the CIA’s Cold War struggle with the KGB beginning with the “Year of the Spy.” David also introduced me to the Milt Bearden who is one of the book’s authors. Milt is a 30-year veteran of the CIA and he ran the agency’s covert operations in Afghanistan while the country was under Soviet occupation. He’s a real-life action hero and it was an honor to spend time with him. If you’re looking for a great read, check out The Main Enemy for nonfiction and David McCloskey’s Damascus Station for fiction. You’ll thank me later!
