Background
I am an Operation Iraqi Freedom Naval Veteran. I lived in Japan for three years and have visited fifteen East and Southeast Asian countries. I have just completed my full-length thriller manuscript titled Forward Tides. I am currently pitching agents and publishers. My day job is as a middle school social studies teacher.
When did you start reading Vince?
I started reading Vince Flynn's Total Power in 2020. I was already a fan of Kyle Mills's earlier works, such as Fade and Lords Of Corruption, which sparked my interest in the Mitch Rapp Series.
Do you have a favorite book?
Term Limits is my favorite Vince Flynn book because there would be no Mitch Rapp without it. Vince initially tried to publish it through traditional means but ended up self-publishing after facing numerous rejections. This gives me hope as I navigate through rejections with my manuscript.
Who is your favorite character?
My favorite character is Mitch Rapp because I have enjoyed how each writer in the series has portrayed him. I identify more closely with the way Kyle Mills evolved the character throughout the years from a cold-blooded savage to a family man with priorities.
If you could be a character in a Vince Flynn novel, who would you be?
I would be Mitch Rapp in Code Red. Kyle hit it out of the park with that one. He had the perfect balance of old-school Mitch Rapp but with a more mature and thoughtful demeanor.
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Vince and his novels?
I have regularly communicated with Kyle Mills and Don Bentley regarding the Mitch Rapp series. As a writer, I resonate more with Kyle's style, but I appreciate the direction in which Don Bentley takes the character. Additionally, Kyle Mills generously donated classroom materials to my geography class at the beginning of the school year.
