Background
I just retired as a Safety Director after being in the trucking industry for 25 years.
When did you start reading Vince?
Started around 2013ish, after listening to Vince on Rush Limbaugh. Rush was praising his books and I went and bought my first one and was hooked immediately.
Do you have a favorite book?
American Assassin, because it gave great context on what it took to make Mitch - Mitch.
Who is your favorite character?
Stan Hurley. Reminds me of an old wise Sargeant I worked with. He was like Stan in that he was tough, but once you were accepted as part of his "crew" he was loyal to a fault.
If you could be a character in a Vince Flynn novel, who would you be?
Stan, all the attributes you would want by your side in the sh*t.
Background
I am an Operation Iraqi Freedom Naval Veteran. I lived in Japan for three years and have visited fifteen East and Southeast Asian countries. I have just completed my full-length thriller manuscript titled Forward Tides. I am currently pitching agents and publishers. My day job is as a middle school social studies teacher.
When did you start reading Vince?
My oldest, Jacob, introduced me to Mitch Rapp with an audio book titled Consent To Kill. He’s dyslexic and audiobooks have helped him so very much.
Do you have a favorite book?
I think my favorite is Act Of Treason. Mitch gets to do what you wish could be done! That is what I love most about this series!!!!!! That is portrayed perfectly in this book.
Who is your favorite character?
Stan Hurley. The perfect Cold War spy. You love to hate him and then grow to love him so much that it hurts.
If you could be a character in a Vince Flynn novel, who would you be?
Female assassin hands down! You get to have the most fun!
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Vince and his novels or a message for Don?
Guys you know I love you all. Thank you for the birthday wishes!

When did you start reading Vince?
I started reading Vince Flynn's Total Power in 2020. I was already a fan of Kyle Mills's earlier works, such as Fade and Lords Of Corruption, which sparked my interest in the Mitch Rapp Series.
Do you have a favorite book?
Term Limits is my favorite Vince Flynn book because there would be no Mitch Rapp without it. Vince initially tried to publish it through traditional means but ended up self-publishing after facing numerous rejections. This gives me hope as I navigate through rejections with my manuscript.
Who is your favorite character?
My favorite character is Mitch Rapp because I have enjoyed how each writer in the series has portrayed him. I identify more closely with the way Kyle Mills evolved the character throughout the years from a cold-blooded savage to a family man with priorities.
If you could be a character in a Vince Flynn novel, who would you be?
I would be Mitch Rapp in Code Red. Kyle hit it out of the park with that one. He had the perfect balance of old-school Mitch Rapp but with a more mature and thoughtful demeanor.
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Vince and his novels?
I have regularly communicated with Kyle Mills and Don Bentley regarding the Mitch Rapp series. As a writer, I resonate more with Kyle's style, but I appreciate the direction in which Don Bentley takes the character. Additionally, Kyle Mills generously donated classroom materials to my geography class at the beginning of the school year.
When did you start reading Mitch Rapp?
A new co-worker introduced me to the books in 2005. I didn't want to start in the middle, so started looking for all the books up to that point so that I could read from book 1.
Do you have a favorite book?
I can't say one over the other, because I love them all. I do like it that the transition from Vince to Kyle was seamless.
Who is your favorite character?
Like everyone else, Mitch Rapp is my favorite, but I do like all his team. They have his back. Even though some of them are not mentioned often, knowing they are there makes me feel better for Mitch.
If you could be a character in a Mitch Rapp novel, who would you be?
I would love to be the assistant if Mitch has one, but I don't think he does. Claudia does all the detail work for him.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
Thank you Kyle Mills and Don Bentley for keeping Vince Flynn's legacy alive by writing the Mitch Rapp series.
Background
A reader since the age of two, I am never without a book. I grew up surrounded by domestic violence and decided early that I wanted to be a police officer to help other kids in the same situation.
When did you start reading Vince?
From the very beginning! He was recommended by a librarian.
Do you have a favorite book?
Transfer Of Power because it was my escape to sanity while at home on maternity leave. I would read it aloud to my infant son to soothe him.
Who is your favorite character?
Irene Kennedy has been a favorite because I love to see strong, successful women in literature.
If you could be a character in a Vince Flynn novel, who would you be?
Definitely Irene. I’d love to be in a position that can globally have an impact on women, especially in the combat arts.
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Vince and his novels?
Kyle, I think you did an excellent job in capturing Vince’s storytelling voice. That’s not an easy skill!
There is not a Mount Rushmore of Mitch Rapp Ambassadors, but if there were, Gary Nash would be on it. To celebrate the launch of the Mitch Rapp Ambassador program for Capture Or Kill, we revisit the fan profile Gary submitted on October 9, 2013.
Background
Former Marine infantry officer.
When did you start reading Vince?
2003.
Do you have a favorite book?
Executive Power--because that was my introduction to Vince Flynn. I quickly purchased the first four, and I've been hooked ever since.
Who is your favorite character?
Mike Nash (Vince wrote in my copy of his book "to Mike's brother, Gary" at a book signing).
Who do you envision when you read about Mitch Rapp?
A compilation of several Marines I've known through the years.
If you could be a character in a Vince Flynn novel, who would you be?
Stan Hurley, because for him pain is weakness leaving the body. Pain is good!
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Vince and his novels?
The lines were long at the St. Louis Park Costco. When we were finally face-to-face with Vince, I "requested" that he never again write "ex-Marine". He promised and then signed our 3 books. Several minutes, and several book signings later, we realized that I forgot to give him the USMC bumper sticker I carried. We stood off to the side and after another signing, Vince looked up and said, "What can I do for you, Gary?" He remembered my name! We were overwhelmed!
I have all 14 of Vince's books, 3 signed and 10 other signed with a personal message. Only The Last Man is unsigned--how ironic!
Semper fidelis, Vince. You who wanted to be a Marine, now know that "the streets of heaven are guarded by United States Marines" (from the 2nd verse of the Marine Hymn).
Please share some of your background.
I am a former Navy SEAL and the author of the new political/military thriller, The Terminal List. My mom was a librarian so I grew up surrounded by books, and was always reading and loving books in this genre. In junior high and high school I devoured anything by David Morrell, Nelson DeMille, Tom Clancy, and J.C. Pollock. In college I discovered Stephen Hunter and continue to eagerly await each new book in the Bob Lee Swagger series. While I was in the military I found Daniel Silva, Brad Thor and, of course, Vince Flynn. From a very early age I knew I wanted to do two things: (1) serve my country in the military and (2) write thrillers. As my time in the SEAL Teams was nearing its end, I decided it was time to pursue my dream and passion for writing. The result is The Terminal List.
When did you start reading Mitch Rapp?
I first started reading Vince Flynn with Term Limits, which is Vince’s first book and the only one that does not feature Mitch Rapp. I started reading it not too long after September 11th, on my way overseas. At the time, I was reading mostly non-fiction that focused on the area of the world in which we were to be engaged for the next sixteen-plus years - the history, the geography, the politics, the religion, and the lessons learned from other military ventures into that territory, namely from the British and the former Soviets, but I did manage to escape into fiction whenever I could. Vince’s books were constant companions during a very formative time in my life as a SEAL leading special operations forces into combat and also on the home front when I was able to take leave. Vince’s books were my go-to reads throughout my time in the Teams.
Which books is your favorite/why?
I love Term Limits, maybe because it’s Vince’s first book and definitely because it was a new and refreshing take on the political thriller. Vince blazed the path for a new generation of thriller writers - a true master of the craft. I was already a SEAL at the time so I immediately identified with Scott Coleman. Vince also captured the sleazy side of the political machine in such a visceral way that it remains one of the best books in the genre even twenty years after publication. I was fortunate to meet Vince at SHOT Show in Las Vegas many years ago. SHOT Show is an industry show that showcases all the new guns and gear, so I was there exploring new technologies that might give my team an edge downrange. Vince was there as well, and I was able to meet him as the show was closing down for the day, so we were able to visit for quite a while. It was obvious that I was a huge fan, and he could not have been more generous with his time. Interestingly enough, I did not tell him I wanted to be a writer one day, as I figured he heard that from people all the time and I still had a lot more time in the military before I could start down the writer’s path. Instead we talked about Term Limits. I remember asking him if he ever worried that someone in special operations might be inspired by his work to put politicians on notice in the way he does in the book. I still remember his response all these years later. “Everyday,” he said.
Do you have a favorite character and why?
I, of course, love Scott Coleman because we share the same lineage as SEALs, but I’m also drawn to the character of Michael O’Rourke because of the complex nature of the moral dilemmas he faces in Term Limits and because of the decisions he ultimately makes in that regard. But, I’m sure I’m in the same boat as legions of fans when I say Mitch Rapp is far and away my favorite character. I’ll never forget reading the first chapter of Transfer of Power, the book and chapter that introduced the world to Mitch Rapp. Though written before the events of September 11th, I read it following that terrible day, a day that changed the course of my life and the history of our country. Mitch Rapp became the new hero in what would be termed the War on Terror, and, although a fictional character, actually became the face of the conflict for many Americans, the face of a young, aggressive, intelligent CIA operative solely focused on protecting America at all costs. He was a timely hero in a new war and remains a source of inspiration for those who want to bring the fight to the enemy and protect the homeland.
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
It would have to be Mitch Rapp. He was able to do in a fictional sense the things those of us that join the ranks of special operations sign up to do. We all aspire to the highest levels of skill and tactical acumen that Mitch Rapp brings to the fight. Mitch Rapp does what we all came in to do.

I am an electrician. I’ve been doing electrical work for 18 years or so and I also enjoy building things for my wife. She likes rustic backyard farm looking things so it’s fun to just slap stuff together and have her absolutely love it! I also make my own knives by forge. If you have ever wanted to try it, I say it’s such a rewarding craft!
When did you start reading Mitch Rapp?
When I saw the first trailer for the movie and it said it was based on a book. So I bought the book and was hooked!
Which book is your favorite?
Either Transfer Of Power or Consent To Kill. I love the movie Olympus Has Fallen. I watched that movie right as I finished Kill Shot and then I found out what Transfer Of Power was about. It was my favorite book until Consent To Kill. That book really showed the animalistic side of Rapp. When he shoves the white phosphorous grenade into the antagonists mouth after blowing his son up in front of him, it gave me goosebumps. I’ll never forget that feeling. I was like excited when I read that part!!!
Do you have a favorite character?
Obviously Rapp, but Claudia Gould seems like she is the only person in the world that could control Rapp. Not even Kennedy has the power that she has. I also like Azarov and I wish he came into more of these stories.
If you could be any character, who would it be?
Scott Coleman or Charlie Wker.
Is there anything else you would like to share, relating to Mitch Rapp, Vince, Kyle or Don?
I just want movies based strongly on the books. I think Sylvester Stallone would produce some amazing Mitch Rapp movies or shows! His love for the military and drama along with his amazing directing skills would be awesome for this project! He could probably even play Hurley! lol. Love the books and keep them coming forever!!!

Hairdresser/Aesthetician/Nail Tech background. Another hairdresser and I used to exchange good books. She loves good novels, like I do. I was bringing her three Rapp books at a time, in order. She was reading all three in a week - and we all work a lot of hours. One day as we were exchanging books she said to me, “I think I’m in love with Mitch Rapp!” I laughed and replied, “In LOVE??? I want to BE Mitch Rapp!!!”
When did you start reading Mitch Rapp?
Found a paperback of his left at the salon in 2005. Picked it up and read it. Love at first read!
Which book is your favorite?
All of them in order! Too good to pick a favorite.
Do you have a favorite character?
Mitch Rapp, of course! His character is a man after my own heart! If he were a real person, I’d try to get him to hire me as his secretary or cook/housekeeper. Anything I could do to help the man.
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
Rapp’s mom, I guess. I would keep his secrets and cheer him on. He’s THE MAN!
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Mitch Rapp, Vince, Kyle or Don?
It is overwhelmingly heartbreaking about Vince Flynn’s death. He shared his wonderful imagination with us and we are SO lucky to have had him. That said, every time I think of him, I think of his widow and children. My heart breaks a little more whenever he comes to mind. May God bless and keep them all. I know exactly what it feels like to lose a wonderful father far too young.

Which book is your favorite?
That's a tough one but I guess I would have to say either The Last Man or Memorial Day. I love them all though.
Do you have a favorite character?
I like Irene Kennedy because she is tough like Mitch, but has to play a different game to get the results that she and Mitch need.
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
I would like to think that I could be Mitch, because I am a " get it done" kind of guy, but I also like Hurley.
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Mitch Rapp, Vince or Kyle?
I told my sister-in-law about Vince Flynn and she started reading the books. Now she and her son (who does work for the FBI) have read them all.

When did you start reading Mitch Rapp?
I discovered the Mitch Rapp series during my last deployment in 2007 aboard the USS Essex on my way to Iraq and from the first books I read, Term Limits and Transfer Of Power, I was hooked.
Which book is your favorite?
Consent To Kill is probably my favorite book in the series because while tragedy strikes, we see a side of Mitch Rapp come forth afterwards that sets the tone for the whole series going forth.

Favorite character is obviously Mitch Rapp. His attention to detail and ability to improvise during a mission and see it through to the end has landed him as one of the most iconic fictional characters of all time.
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
A member of Mitch's team so i could see the legend in action.
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Mitch Rapp, Vince or Kyle?

Which book is your favorite?
The newest one, Code Red, is pretty awesome, but they’re ALL great.
Do you have a favorite character?
Mitch is tops, but I really like Irene’s character also.
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
Scott Coleman.
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Mitch Rapp, Vince or Kyle?
Vince was a great talent, gone too soon. Kyle did an admirable job taking that over for the family and will be missed.
Please share some of your background:
I was born and raised in the South. I grew up playing soldiers and wanting to be Duke or Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe. I am married to a beautiful woman and have amazing twin boys. I’ve been an avid reader for about 15 years now. I started working my way through some of the “classics,” but got bored and decided to expand my horizons.
When did you start reading Mitch Rapp?
I was late to the game when it comes to Mitch Rapp. I had not read any of the Rapp books until I started reading Jack Carr and heard him talking about Vince Flynn. Once I finished American Assassin, I was hooked and didn’t read anything else until I got caught up on the series.
Which book is your favorite?
American Assassin will always be a favorite because it gives us the background on Rapp’s recruitment. I watched the movie before I ever read the book, and the movie pales in comparison. The Third Option is also a favorite because it shows us the difficulties Irene is going to have to face if she succeeds Stansfield, and I think it shows Rapp’s loyalty.
Do you have a favorite character?
Aside from Rapp, I’m a big fan of Scott Coleman. The way he’s depicted in the books makes me feel like he’s a real person, and someone that I would want to hang out with and someone who would have your back if he counted you as a friend. I’m also a big fan of Irene. She’s calculating and just as dangerous as Mitch, even if it is in a different way.
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
I think I identify most with Scott Coleman. His loyalty to his friends is something I admire and strive to. He has Rapp’s back, but isn’t afraid to question him.
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Mitch Rapp, Vince or Kyle?
Vince Flynn created one of the most iconic characters in the thriller genre. His legacy will live on forever. Kyle Mills did an amazing job at the helm, staying true to what Flynn created while also bringing his own style and personality and perspective to the story.
Please share some of your background:
I'm a 49 year old Engineering Manager for a Major Appliance company here in United States. I born in Arizona, raised in South Dakota and now live in North Carolina. My wife and I have 2 boys and 1 girl that we adopted. We also have 4 dogs and 2 cats. My hobbies are spending time with my family, especially going to the beach, working on my Ram Warlock, and of course reading. Especially all things Mitch Rapp.
When did you start reading Mitch Rapp?
I started reading the Rapp series several years ago. I can remember I was flying out of RDU airport, passing time before my flight when I came across a book that little did I know what kind of impact it would have on me. That book? Memorial Day by Vince Flynn. I couldn't put the book down on the flight to Stockholm and had it finished in no time. Since then I have been one of Vince Flynn's and now Kyle Mills biggest fans!
Which book is your favorite?
It really is hard to say, all of them are so well written, so much so I have read them all twice, soon to be working on 3rd time. If I had to pick one though, I would have to say Memorial Day due to the fact this is the book that started it all for me in this series. I would say a close 2nd though would be Code Red, to me one of Mills' finest Rapp books and what a way to go out with a book like that!
Do you have a favorite character?
Again, this is a hard one to choose as there are so many characters through out the entire series. Mitch is one of the more obvious choices as favorite character and I would have to say I would go with him as mine. Due to the fact that he does what he does for the love of his country and is so compassionate about it. Beyond that, I would have to say that Kennedy is my second favorite, due to the fact that she made Rapp who is he is and is such an important person in his life.
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
I honestly would have to say I would choose to be Rapp, due to the passion and loyalty to his family, friends and country. He will do what it takes to defend them to keep them all safe. He also doesn't do what he does to be recognized, recieve medals or expect anything in return. I will say this, the one character I wouldn't want to be is the one that Rapp is coming after!
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Mitch Rapp, Vince or Kyle?
I have to say that losing Vince years ago was such a tragic loss, not because of his books that he wrote (although they are fantastic!!), but because we all lost such a wonderful person. Although I never had the honor to meet him, the things that you read and the videos of the man you see, its not hard to see and say what a great man he really was and no doubt he left this world too soon. Thank you to the people that carry on Vince's legacy, the people that make his fan club what it is, the website and social media accounts that they run/maintain and how it keeps us Rapp fans connected! I also would like to thank Kyle Mills for taking the Rapp series on and making it his own. It truly is hard for me to determine where Flynn's writing ends and Mills begins. I didn't think that was possible but he sure proved me wrong! So thanks to him and I wish him nothing but the best moving forward. Lastly, I want to say to Don Bentley welcome to the Rapp universe! Very much looking forward to seeing what direction you take Mitch and his team!!! Just know, if you need any ideas, I would be more the glad to help ya out!!!

Tough question but maybe Total Power. It’s just so plausible!
Do you have a favorite character?
Gotta be Mitch!
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
Again tough. But make me a villain so I can feel Mitch’s wrath from the other side. Ha!

I loved Vince and sincerely appreciate what Kyle has done with the series.

When did you start reading Mitch Rapp?
I picked up Mitch Rapp when the news of American Assassin came out. I like the actor Dylan O’Brien and of course Michael Keaton. So I picked it up and within six months I had read them all. I love characters like Mitch Rapp, Jack Reacher. Aaron Steele, Vick Harwood. All basically the combat arms guys like me and they think tactically like I would. So it was like I was along and knew what would happen.
Which book is your favorite?
I gotta go with the OG American Assassin because it’s a great origin story.
Do you have a favorite character?
I love Mitch but Scott is more like I am.
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
I think I’d be Scott working with the renegade but still willing to do what is necessary to complete the mission.
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Mitch Rapp, Vince or Kyle?
Since I started reading the books I passed all of them on to my fellow brothers in arms and I’ve got every one of my brothers as big Mitch Rapp fans.
Please share some of your background:
I’ve been working in the supply chain and logistics field for twenty years, but I had my debut political spy thriller, Surviving The Lion’s Den, published in October 2021. I owe my success as a writer in large part to Vince Flynn whose writing inspired me.
When did you start reading Mitch Rapp?
I was on an elevator one day at work talking with someone who I had never seen before and have never seen again. I mentioned that I liked reading spy novels and he suggested Vince Flynn. After reading Act Of Treason, I immediately purchased all of Vince’s preceding novels. In a way, my literary journey started that day. To this day, I still believe that my meeting that man on the elevator was Divine intervention.
Which book is your favorite?
Protect And Defend because it had the heaviest plot about Iran, and when Irene Kennedy got kidnapped, it allowed us to see the darkest part of Mitch Rapp.
Do you have a favorite character?
Other than Mitch? Stan Hurley he was one tough SOB, was one of the few people Mitch respected, was a wild card, and probably had some of the coolest stories to tell over drinks.
If you could be any character in Vince's novels, who would it be and why?
Thomas Stanfield because he knew everyone’s secrets, knew we’re all the bodies were buried (political or literal), and was the one person the Mitch respected enough to never try and cross.
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Mitch Rapp, Vince or Kyle?
I hated reading in high school and college simply because of the novels that I was assigned to read. Vince Flynn’s novels not only brought be back to the literary world, but ensured that I’ve stayed for eternity. I couldn’t have become the writer that I am today with Vince Flynn. His influences on me are too many to be counted. My only regret is that I never got to meet him personally.
Vince Flynn, the bestselling author of the Mitch Rapp thriller series died in 2013 after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 47. The fifth of seven children, Vince Flynn was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on April 6, 1966.
